Small Quarto (10 x 7.5 inches; 252 x 190 mm), 176 pages, in publisher's original gingham wrappers.

INSCRIBED by Kenward Elmslie on the half title: "For Terry -- / Kenward / Elmslie / March, ?? / Washington,D.C." And below that, in his partner Joe Brainard's hand: "Where the ochre went / where / the toker / went." A collection of often-humorous poems, stories, and song lyrics by Elmslie (1929-2022), with the cover and drawings by Brainard (1942-1994). Many of the poems and stories in this volume are dedicated to poet and artist friends.

CONDITION: Covers lightly toned, spine sunned, several small dampstains on rear cover, one on the front. A bit of rubbing to front cover, top corner lightly bumped, price sticker at front free end paper, some pages creased. A Very Good copy of a book by a sometimes under-appreciated figure of the New York School of poetry. Item #1251
