16mo (6 1/2 x 5 inches; 165 x 130 mm), 90 pages in tan printed wrappers (soft cover).

INSCRIBED by Brassaï on the half title: "Pour Françoise / bien amicalement / Brassaï / Paris / de 9 mai 1977." A volume of poems by the great Hungarian-French photographer, who was born Gyula Halász (1899-1984). In this book, Brassaï presents the thoughts and monologues of Marie, a cleaning lady. The short texts are essentially snapshots of Marie's life (and the lives of those around her).

The book contains an admiring introduction by American writer and fellow Paris resident Henry Miller. One of 2,500 copies numbered 101 to 2,600 on Vélin Alfa paper. (There were also 100 deluxe copies containing an original signed etching.)

This volume comes with a notarized letter from Thomas Marotta, explaining that Brassaï had inscribed it to his wife, Françoise, during a visit to Brassaï's home in Paris in 1977. SCARCE INSCRIBED.
