Pasadena: Self-published (Upton Sinclair), n.d. (ca. 1919-1920). First Edition. Excerpts from Upton Sinclair's book, The Brass Check, in which he severely criticizes the American press. In this self-published pamphlet, he takes aim at the Associated Press, which he calls a "leading agency of capitalist repression." He argues that the AP suppresses news about the labor movement or is hostile to it in its reporting. Although there are plenty of modern reprints on the market, this original pamphlet is scarce.
