Trying for the Ten Ring: Poems
Mt. Aukum, California: Mt. Aukum Press, 2000. First Edition, First Printing.
Octavo (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches; 215 x 140 mm), 37, [1] pages in stapled wrappers.
SIGNED by Ann Menebroker on the title page. A collection of 26 poems by the Sacramento poet (1936-2016). It contains a short introduction by the author, in which she says, "I write from experiences that have taken place, that I wish had taken place, and that I imagined took place."
She explains the meaning of "ten ring" in the title: it's the highest possible score one can achieve on a shooting range. And even though she has never shot a gun, the idea behind the expression "merges with my desire to hit that ten ring as close as I can in the exactness of the poem's meaning."
