INSCRIBED by Amiri Baraka (formerly known as LeRoi Jones) on the title page: "For / Day o [?] / Amiri Baraka." A collection of two dozen essays written between 1960 and 1965, dealing largely with the Black experience. The book also reprints one of his most famous essays, Cuba Libre, in which Jones (1934-2014) recounts a visit to Cuba arranged by the Fair Play for Cuba Committee in 1960. He met Fidel Castro as well as many supporters of the Cuban Revolution, some of whom were suspicious of a poet from New York. Uncommon signed. Item #1706

CONDITION: Slight sunning to board edges. Internally, some check marks and marginalia on the two contents pages, some small stains on a couple of pages. The unclipped dust jacket ($4.00) has some rubbing and soiling, s small notation on the front flap, and a small tear at the top of the bottom flap where it meets the panel. Overall, a Very Good copy.
