An overview of the Spanish election of February 1936, in which the Left won the most votes and seats in the country's parliament. Months later, Franco and other generals would stage a right-wing coup, which ignited the Spanish Civil War. This pamphlet includes an excerpt from an article by John H. Humphreys of the Manchester Guardian as well as an unsigned piece appearing in The Times. The final page discusses the aftermath of the election. Item #2006
