This issue features the complete text of Albert Maltz's one-act play, "Private Hicks," in which a soldier refuses to follow orders to shoot striking workers; a letter from Hallie Flanagan about the new Federal Theatre Project; a review of Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times"; and more.
The cover shows a scene from Albert Bein's play "Let Freedom Ring" and is credited to Margaret Bourke-White. (The play was adapted from the novel "To Make My Bread" by Grace Lumpkin).
Copies of New Theatre are becoming increasingly scarce in the book trade.

CONDITION: Some splits along the spine, although the wrappers are firmly in place, edge wear to wrappers, and a few creases to pages. Overall, a Very Good copy. Item #2037
