The rare first issue of Trevor Winkfield's quirky poetry and art magazine, Juillard, which he launched from his hometown of Leeds, England. Contributors to this Spring 1968 issue include Jasper Johns (with nine pages showing his paintings plus the cover image), Giorgio de Chirico, Patrick Hughes, Kenward Elmslie, Ben [Vautier], Harry Mathews, Erik Satie, George Schneeman and Ron Padgett, Walter de Maria, and Glen Baxter. Winkfield moved to New York in 1969 and continued publishing Juillard, which appeared a total of nine times, through 1972. Moreover, he collaborated on books with some of the most acclaimed poets on the New York scene, such as John Ashbery, Ron Padgett, and James Schuyler. Copies of the first issue of Juillard are rare.
