Economic Basis of Education
New York: New York Labor News Company, 1942.
12mo (7 1/8 x 5 inches (185 x 126 mm), 62, [2] pages, in stapled wrappers.
A look at the economic basis of education from a Marxist standpoint. Issued by the Socialist Labor Party, this pamphlet argues that reformers can't overhaul education within a capitalist framework. College professors serve the capitalist and war-making class, according to the author, Aaron M. Orange. Soviet schools also come under attack because of "Stalinist corruption."
Orange was a New York City public school teacher as well as the SLP's candidate for Vice President in the 1940 presidential election.
