The Czech-born artist was a founder of Le Grand Jeu, a group of surrealist artists and poets active in France from about 1928 to 1933. Sima (1891-1971) had moved to France in 1921 and was known for his dreamlike works and enigmatic portraits and landscapes. A retrospective exhibition took place in 1968 at the Musée d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris.
