Catalogue for an exhibition of "Les Menines," a series of paintings by Picasso reinterpreting works by Vélasquez. Picasso painted these works in the summer of 1957; Galerie Louise Leiris in Paris exhibited them from May 22 to June 27, 1959. Introduction by the Surrealist poet Michel Leiris (and husband of gallery director Louise Leiris). Text in French.

The catalogue lists 58 works, with most of them illustrated in black-and-white and four in color. Erratum card laid in. Mourlot Frères created the lithograph that adorns the cover; Draeger Frères printed the catalogue. SCARCE.

CONDITION: Spine heavily sunned, some edge wear, nicks, and soiling to wrappers but internally clean and unmarked. Very Good or better. Item #2421
