Jean Genet's explosive play of Blacks reenacting feelings of resentment and revenge. Originally written in French for an all-Black cast as "Les Nègres: Clownerie." Translated from the French by Bernard Frechtman. Roger Blin directed the first production of the play, performed by La Compagnie Africaine d'Art Dramatique "Les Griots" at the Théâtre de Lutèce in Paris in October 1959.

CONDITION: Light rubbing to corners, internally light toning and offsetting to end papers, but otherwise clean and bright. The dust jacket has light edge wear, a few tiny nicks, and some soiling to the rear panel. Flap corners trimmed but the price of 10s 6d remains intact. Near Fine in a Very Good dust jacket.
