The author, I.B. Tabata (1909-1990), was an anti-apartheid activist. The New York-based Council on African Affairs, an anti-colonialist organization established by Paul Robeson, issued this edition in 1946. The text originally was published in South Africa in 1945 under the auspices of the All African Convention.
