This is one of Anouilh's best-known plays, which explores the relationship between King Henry II of England and the archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas à Becket. The play was presented for the first time on October 8, 1959, in Paris at the Theatre Montparnasse-Gaston Baty. Text entirely in French.
