Auster's first book, a mimeographed collection of his translations of poems by French Surrealist authors André Breton, Paul Éluard, René Char, Benjamin Péret, Tristan Tzara, Antonin Artaud, Philippe Soupault, Robert Desnos, Louis Aragon, and Hans Arp.
The painter George Schneeman, who collaborated on books with numerous East Village poets, illustrated the upper wrapper and colophon. Copies signed by both Auster and Schneeman are scarce to the market.
CONDITION: Some light soiling to both wrappers with minor staining to the bottom edge of the lower wrapper. Small black dot on fore edge. Overall, about Very Good. Item #753
